Boutique hotel planned for Old Town Keller

A new boutique hotel is in the works for the Old Town Keller district.

The Harmonson Boutique Hotel, a one-story hotel consisting of 10 high-end suites, could soon occupy the former Lucas Funeral Home building at 137 Hill St., Keller, after a special-use permit was recommended for approval Jan. 14 by the city of Keller Planning & Zoning Commission.

Harmonson owners Sue Salstrand and Abby and Micah Mahoney have expressed a vision of an upscale hotel with 10 unique suites; a continental-style kitchen; open dance and fire pit areas; and a public bar.

The PZC recommended unanimous approval to City Council, and council is expected to vote on the SUP for the new hotel at a meeting Feb. 4.

“What a great idea as a use for that building,” PZC Place 5 Commissioner Leslie Sagar said. “I think it’s going to be a unique and experiential business that will add a lot for the residents and that area.”

Additional plans for the Harmonson Boutique Hotel include the addition of a covered patio near the building’s rear exit, a pool added to a vacant lot on the property and updated fencing.

The future site of the hotel, a 6,200 square-foot building, sits on .593 acres of property and has remained vacant since 2016. Originally constructed as a church in 1987, the building was active as a funeral home from 2004-2016.
