Several candidates have filed for local offices as of the end of the filing period at 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Election day for the local races is May 2.
What you need to know
Residents for Fort Worth, Keller, Roanoke and Northwest ISD will see a number of city council and school board seats on their May 2 ballots.
Fort Worth residents will have a special election for the District 10 seat for Fort Worth City Council. Alan Blaylock, the former council member for District 10, resigned prior to the end of his term to run as the state representative for District 93. Candidates include:
- Chris Jamieson
- Alicia Ortiz
The city will also have an election for a $845 million bond, per previous reporting.
Keller residents will have elections for the city’s mayor and for City Council Place 5 and Place 6. Two current and former City Council members are running for the mayoral position, which has also resulted in a special election for the Place 4 council seat.
Current council member Chris Whatley is the incumbent for the Place 5 race.
Candidates for the mayor race include:
- Ross McMullin
- Tag Green
- Ed Prem
Candidates for Place 5 include:
- Chris Whatley
- Ned Brown
- Ashley Stone Hernandez
Candidates for Place 6 include:
- Charles Randklev
- Zane Kupper
Filing for the Place 4 position will start Feb. 18 and close March 3 at 5 p.m.
Roanoke residents will have elections for a total of five ward seats. Three races have incumbent candidates running unopposed:
- Holly Gray for City Council Ward 1
- Brian Darby for City Council Ward 2
- Dave Brundage for City Council Ward 3
The city also has two special elections due to two City Council members moving out of Roanoke, which makes them ineligible to serve on the council per previous reporting. Candidates for the Ward 1 unexpired term include:
- John Pullen
- Victor Molaschi
- Donald J. Glacy
- Jeff Barksdale
Candidates for the Ward 2 unexpired term include:
- Jonathan Ackmann
- Ernie Adams
Roanoke City Council typically has two council seats for each ward of the city.
Northwest ISD has three board seats up for election with incumbent candidates running unopposed:
- Steve Sprowls for Place 5
- Lillian Rauch for Place 6
- Jennifer Murphy for Place 7
A second candidate for the Place 5 position, Laura Koehler, filed a certificate of withdrawal Feb. 13.
One more thing
Early voting for the May 2 election will run from April 20-28. Residents can check if they are registered to vote at the Tarrant County and Denton County websites. While Denton County polling sites are not yet available, Tarrant County locations are listed online.
