Democratic candidate Pedro “Pete” Munoz bested challenger John Wright in the July 14 primary runoff election for Tarrant County Constable, Precinct 5, according to unofficial voting totals.
Munoz finished with nearly 67% of the vote and headed to become the new constable with no Republican challenger in the November election.
In other primary runoff races, Republican candidate Brian Walker won over Elizabeth Beach for Justice of the 2nd Court of Appeals, Place 7. The winner will also not face a challenger in the November election.
In the race for U.S. Senate, Mary "MJ" Hegar declared victory over challenger Royce West with 52% of the vote to win the Democratic Party nomination. She is expected to face Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in November.
