Keller ISD names first principal for new pathway in technology campus

The district first announced March 5 plans to open a P-TECH campus by fall 2021.

The P-TECH high school program will allow KISD students to earn a high school diploma while at the same time gaining enough industry-related work experience to obtain an industry-recognized associate degree.

KISD will focus primarily on a health care pathway, according to a district news release. The new P-TECH campus will offer certificates from Tarrant County College for paramedics, surgical technicians and registered nurses.

The P-TECH pathway will be available to all KISD students through an application process. In addition, P-TECH will allow students to graduate while meeting Texas Education Agency requirements and earning up to 60 college credit hours.

The new P-TECH program will take place at the current Chisholm Trail Intermediate School, according to the release. Chisholm Trail is expected to close by May 2021, and Fossil Hill Middle School will be converted into a sixth- to eighth-grade campus for the 2021-22 school year.

“I am thrilled [Arsenault] will be leading this program and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to have on the students of Keller ISD,” Anderson said.
