Tracking COVID-19: 30-day case average continues to decline in Keller, Roanoke, North Fort Worth

Editor’s note: This is the latest information reported by Tarrant County, Denton County and the state of Texas through their public dashboards.

As of Sept. 8, the level of community spread of the coronavirus remains "substantial" in Tarrant County, according to public health officials.

Tarrant County Public Health has confirmed 257 new coronavirus cases in the county in the past 24 hours.

Since public health officials began tracking the virus in mid-March, a total of 43,055 cases have been confirmed in Tarrant County, including 582 deaths and 37,811 patients who have recovered.

Among ZIP codes in the Keller-Roanoke-Northeast Fort Worth area, 76244 has the greatest number of new confirmed cases with 103 reported between Aug. 20-Sept. 8. That brings the total number of cases in that ZIP code to 880, which represents a rate of 151 cases per 100,000 residents during the past 30 days.

The ZIP code with the second-highest number of new cases during that time was 76262 with 75. According to Denton County Public Health, there are a total of 270 confirmed cases in ZIP code 76262, including 217 patients who have recovered.

Since Aug. 20, there have been 28 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in the city of Roanoke. Officials have confirmed a total of 90 cases in the city, including 72 patients who have recovered.

As of Sept. 8, Denton County Public Health officials have confirmed a total of 10,766 cases of COVID-19 within the county, including 105 deaths and 9,001 patients who have recovered.

The ZIP code with the third-highest number of new cases since Aug. 20 is 76248 with 56. There are now 560 total cases in that ZIP code, which represents a 30-day rate of 120 cases per 100,000 residents.

The ZIP code with the lowest number of new cases reported was 76177 with 30 new cases for a 30-day rate of 304 cases per 100,000 residents. There is now a total of 223 cases confirmed in 76177.

According to state health officials, several commercial laboratories have submitted a backlog of test results in recent months, resulting in higher case counts in some areas of the state.

Among the key indicators to watch, health experts have said, is the number of hospitalizations. As of Sept. 8, Tarrant County health numbers indicate a total of 219 lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the county. According to TCPH, there are 223 occupied ventilators and 534 available ventilators in the county.

In Denton County, as of Sept. 6, there are 32 hospital beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, according to DCPH. In addition, there are 47 ventilators occupied and 209 ventilators available within the county.
