Tarrant County Public Health reports weekend spike in COVID-19 cases

According to Tarrant County Public Health, Saturday, June 20, with 439 positive cases, represented the second-highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases for a single day since TCPH began tracking coronavirus in Tarrant County in March.

TCPH officials have confirmed an additional 260 new cases of COVID-19 in the county within the past 24 hours.

Out of 9,386 positive cases in the county, there have been 211 deaths and 4,513 patients who have recovered.

According to TCPH, some 67% of coronavirus-related fatalities in the county have been seniors age 65 and over.

Meanwhile, Tarrant County residents ages 25-44 account for 38% of all COVID-19 cases in the county but only 5% of coronavirus-related fatalities.

As of June 23, TCPH numbers indicate there are 1,837 available hospital beds in Tarrant County and 3,699 beds that are occupied, including 318 occupied by COVID-19 patients.

In addition, there are 194 occupied ventilators and 422 available ventilators in the county.
