Fort Worth sign and graphic business adapts to serve employees, local community

During these challenging times, many businesses have been forced to adapt in order to “stay in business as well as help out [their] community,” said Carlos Camacho, owner of Csigns & Graphics of Fort Worth.

Csigns & Graphics, which is generally a printing, signage and apparel shop that handles a wide variety of decor and advertising options, responded to the coronavirus pandemic by developing an entirely new product.

The sign shop officially began fabricating face shields March 26 after speaking with industry experts and realizing the shop had the necessary materials on hand, Camacho said.

“We really wanted to find a way to keep our employees employed and help out the community,” he said. “We are still fabricating as we speak and are working on getting donations out.”

Camacho said all face shields are fabricated in-house and use elastic, one-inch foam and a clear resin known as PETG, or polyethylene terephthalate glycol.

Thus far, Csigns & Graphics has donated hundreds of face shields to first responders and front-line healthcare workers in the Fort Worth area, he said.

The sign shop has donated shields to Texas Health, John Peter Smith Hospital and individual nurses in the community. The shop also has plans to donate shields to the Fort Worth Police Department and other organizations, Camacho said.

“We have also been donating banners or yard signs to small restaurants and businesses in the area that need to adapt to new norms,” he said. “These times have been rough for everyone, and we know that together, we will get through this.”
