Tri-County Electric co-op board member Jorden Wood dies

Jorden Wood, a Tri-County Electric Cooperative board member, died on Nov. 24, according to a company announcement.

Wood, 72, represented District 3 for the co-op that covers 16 counties in North Texas, including Denton and Tarrant counties.

Wood has been on the board since 2006 and has previously been the chair of the board. He was re-elected in 2021 for a three-year term that was set to expire in October 2024.

The nine-person board can appoint someone to the vacant spot or leave it vacant until the next scheduled election. The next board meeting is Dec. 11.

The entity held an election for customers in October and one of the district was unable to decide on a board member. There is a runoff election from Dec. 1-20 between David Miller and Jerry Walden. None of the four candidates from the October election had a majority of the vote, according the co-op’s newsletter.

Walden received 38.1%, while Miller received 29.4% during the last election cycle. The results of the runoff election will be announced during a meeting on Jan. 3, 2024.

The board chair is Keller resident Max Waddell.
