The Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce will be operating under a new name, the Metroport Chamber, beginning Jan. 1, according to a Dec. 3 news release. A corresponding new logo was unveiled on the same day at the chamber's monthly luncheon.
The chamber evolved from the Roanoke Business Association and was incorporated as the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce in 1988. It expanded in the early 1990s to include the towns of Trophy Club and Westlake, becoming the Roanoke Trophy Club Westlake Chamber of Commerce.
It was later called the Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce when the city of Haslet and the town of Northlake joined the chamber in 2003, according to the news release. The town of Argyle and city of Justin joined in later years.
The term “Metroport” was coined to refer to the metropolitan region between Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and the Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the news release states.
