Many people consider cigars to be an interest for older men. Not so, said Bob Peacock, owner of Michael’s Tobacco. He called it a grand unifier, something that customers from all backgrounds can come together and bond over.
After he retired, Peacock’s father, Mike, bought the original Michael’s Tobacco store in Euless from its original owners 15 years ago. The business expanded to Keller a few years later in November 2013. Both stores feature lounge areas and a full-service bar, and Peacock said the staff is extremely knowledgeable about cigars. Some of them were even long-time customers before being hired, he said.
The store’s regular customers appreciate that expertise. Keller store manager Brandon Payne said regulars will often ask, “What do you have for me?”
“Our goal is never to get you to spend the most money,” Payne said. “It’s to find you the cigar that’s going to get you the most enjoyment.”
