Silverleaf Turf Co., a Keller-based mobile turf business, added a partnership with Metal America, which builds and installs custom steel structures.
According to a company Instagram post, the partnership between Silverleaf Turf Co. and Metal America started at the beginning of October.
Metal America will handle the concrete slab and steel for the buildings, while Silverleaf Turf Co. will install cages, turf and netting inside.
The big picture
Silverleaf Turf Co. is owned by Jackson and Taylor Jones. They started the business earlier this year, offering sod and turf for baseball fields and facilities, as well as netting, batting cages and equipment for athletes to use.
“Growing up, I played on grass fields my whole childhood,” said Jackson Jones, who played collegiate baseball. “Whenever we got to play on turf, it was the best day of the season. I think that had a big impact on my decision to get into the turf space."
Jones said the design-builds can be new construction through the Metal America partnership or a build-out or renovation of an existing space. He works with Cimarron Sports to provide batting cages and netting.
Turf for hitting and pitching lanes and training areas inside the facility can be provided by companies such as Superior Turf, Rymar Turf and TurfHub, according to the website. In addition, Jones can add pitching mounds from Portolite Mounds and connect facility owners and operators with HitTrax, a hitting data and simulation system that tracks each swing.
While the company's website has an address in Fort Worth, Jackson Jones said that is where they store their products. The day-to-day business operates out of the Jackson's home in Keller.
What else?
In addition to the sports portion of the business, Jackson Jones said Silverleaf Turf Co. installs turf for residential yards, pet turf for dogs, backyard putting greens, turf for playgrounds, turf for common areas and the company provides turf maintenance services.
Jones said he would also love to add baseball field construction to the company's portfolio in the future.
