Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties reported a total of 639 confirmed coronavirus cases May 7 in seven Katy-area ZIP codes.
The counties reported 630 cases May 6, 618 cases May 5 and 610 cases May 4.
Only Waller County is providing the number of recoveries at the ZIP code level, and all three of the Katy-area cases in Waller County have recovered. In total, Waller County is reporting 23 recoveries out of 36 confirmed cases.
Harris County outside the city of Houston is reporting 1,868 recoveries out of 3,150 cases, while Fort Bend County is reporting 213 recoveries out of 1,332 confirmed cases.
None of the counties are providing the total number of public and private tests administered by ZIP code.
Fort Bend County’s testing sites have tested a total of 4,815 people.
Fort Bend County
Two additional county-run testing sites will open May 8, one of which is at Katy ISD's Seven Lakes High School. The district is also hosting another testing site—run by Harris County—at Legacy Stadium.
Waller County
The state-run mobile coronavirus testing site will return to Waller County on May 9.
Houston area
The Greater Houston COVID-19 Recovery Fund will give an additional $764,600 to four Greater Houston nonprofit organizations: the Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Get Shift Done for Houston, Montgomery County Food Bank and Healthcare for the Homeless.

State
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an update May 7 regarding a change to his COVID-19 executive order to ensure residents are not put in jail for violating the orders. Learn more about it here.
Also, the governor’s office and an Austin-based nonprofit have launched a new fund to help Texas communities recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, 72 state health care centers will receive about $31 million in federal funds to expand COVID-19 testing.
