FedEx Corp. is nearing completion on its largest ground distribution facility in Texas.
The new 800,000-square-foot facility near Katy is set to open in September on a nearly 500-acre tract of land at 8787 W. Grand Parkway N., Cypress.
Brady Bates, senior manager of the Houston hub, spoke in May at the Katy Area Economic Development Council general assembly meeting, where he said up to 180,000 packages would be processed daily—and 20,000 of those would be delivered directly from the facility each day.
“The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customers’ distribution centers and a strong local community workforce for recruiting employees,” FedEx Ground spokesperson Allie Addoms said. “The new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and further enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network.”
