What’s new?
Katy ISD will launch Legacy Virtual High School for grades 9-11 as part of its Innovative Pathways initiative, according to its website.
The high school has both full-time, tuition-free or tuition-based part-time/supplemental options for students. The school will offer personalized instruction where students can obtain graduation endorsements in multidisciplinary studies, arts and humanities, business and industry as well as STEM—computer science.

Bus schedules
Katy ISD uses the Edulog system, which integrates GIS and parcel data, to accurately determine bus service eligibility for elementary students living over half a mile away and secondary students living over 1 mile from their school, per the website.
Students enrolled in Katy ISD can download the SMART tag app to find their bus routes, while newly enrolled students can use the district website to determine eligibility.
Nutrition
Breakfast and lunch prices are going to increase in the 2026-27 school year, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Primary and secondary school breakfast will now cost $1.50—a $0.25 increase from last year. Meanwhile, lunch will now be $0.50 more, with primary school students paying $2.75 and secondary school students paying $3.25.
Katy ISD offers free and reduced meals for eligible students throughout the school year.
Registration
According to the district’s website, students not currently enrolled in the district can register online as of July 24 with required documents, including:
- A utility bill within 30 days of occupancy
- Birth certificate
- Government-issued identification card of the person registering the student
- Proof of immunizations, legible in English
- Report card or transcript from the most recently attended school
- Additional documents defined if applicable
