International Japanese-bakery Uncle Tetsu is coming soon to the Katy Grand shopping center in Katy.
Construction on the dessert shop for takeout-only cheesecakes is estimated to conclude in June, per project filings from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
According to the bakery’s website, the made-from-scratch Japanese cheesecakes combine the richness of American cheesecakes with the lightness of a French souffle.
The dessert comes in a variety of flavors, including matcha, ube, Oreo cookie and strawberry. Uncle Tetsu’s menu also features basque cheesecake—which is intentionally burnt on the outer layer to create a caramelized crust with a creamy interior—as well as cheesecake biscotti cookies and cheese tarts.
