Road closures on the Grand Parkway are planned for June 27-29 as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s widening project, according to a June 27 news release from TxDOT.

What you need to know

From 8 p.m. June 27 until 7 a.m. June 28 the following closure will be in place:
  • Westbound main lanes of the Grand Parkway from Champion Forest to Hwy. 249 will be closed. A detour is available via Boudreaux Road.


From 8 p.m. June 28 until 9 a.m. June 29, the following closures will be in place:
  • Eastbound main lanes of the Grand Parkway from west of Hwy. 249 to Gleannloch Forest Drive will be closed. A detour is available via Boudreaux Road.
  • The eastbound direct connector from the Grand Parkway to Hwy. 249 southbound will be closed. A detour is available via the Hwy. 249 southbound frontage road.
  • The Hwy. 249 northbound direct connector to eastbound Grand Parkway will be closed. A detour is available via the Hwy. 249 frontage road and Boudreaux Road.


The context


According to the news release, the project will widen a 5.7-mile stretch of the Grand Parkway from Hwy. 249 to Kuykendahl Road from four to six lanes. Construction began in June 2024 and is expected to wrap by winter 2028, according to TxDOT.
