The new two-lane road connecting Nichols Sawmill and Sanders Cemetery roads in Montgomery County Precinct 2 opened in mid-May. Grand Pines Drive is anticipated to provide drivers a safer route through south Magnolia than traveling on neighboring roads. The project has been in the works for nearly three years, seeing early delays from permitting issues and wetland mitigation disputes. Commissioner Charlie Riley previously said this is the first new road in southwest Precinct 2 in more than a decade.
