Tomball ISD will welcome fans to the first football game held at its new stadium Aug. 27 as Tomball Memorial High School takes on Aldine ISD's Nimitz High School at 7 p.m.

The district celebrated the opening of the $37.29 million stadium—which was funded by the $275 million bond package voters approved in 2017—on Aug. 9. The stadium is located at 20235 Cypress Rosehill Road, Tomball, and serves both high schools.

Here are a few items to note when visiting the stadium.

Clear bag policy

A clear bag policy is in place at the new stadium. According to the Tomball Event Center website, there are no size limitations for transparent bags at the stadium. Small, non-transparent purses must not exceed 6 inches in height, 9 inches in length and 5 inches in width, according to the policy.

Traffic flow

According to the Tomball Event Center website, the district cautioned there may be significant delays in exiting the stadium Aug. 27 after the game. According to an email sent to parents Aug. 25, traffic will only be allowed to exit the stadium south toward the Grand Parkway.

"The county is working on Cypress Rosehill Road construction projects, and the Army Corps of Engineers has delayed the district in finishing an alternate exit from the stadium that was scheduled for completion prior to the opening of the stadium," the district stated in an email to parents Aug. 25.

Community Impact Newspaper previously reported work on Cypress Rosehill Road near FM 2920 is slated to wrap up in May 2022.
