During a July 8 meeting, Magnolia City Council approved the annexation of 94.53 acres of land near FM 1488 and Mill Creek Road.

What you need to know

The development project involves both residential and commercial components, as previously reported by Community Impact, with retail and multifamily closer to the street. The developer of the future project is Magnolia Paragon, LLC, according to the agenda.

The annexation of the land allows the city to receive taxes and obligates the city to provide services like water and wastewater connections, City Attorney Leonard Schneider said.

At the meeting, residents spoke out against mass developments coming into the city with concerns of losing the city’s small-town charm.

How we got here

In August 2023, the City Council came to a development agreement with Red Hill Ventures for this development, according to prior reporting.

At the time, the center was expected to have a mid-size grocery store or fitness center as its anchor, with green space and walking trails.
