Tomball city officials are estimating an early completion date for the city’s new elevated storage tank, for which construction began July 5, 2023, Assistant City Manager Jessica Rogers said via email July 31.

Construction was initially scheduled for completion by Jan. 24, 2025. However, Rogers said the project will finish ahead of schedule, with an expected completion date of this November.

Included in the city's water master plans for several years, the tank became a priority with the increased development near the Grand Parkway and Hwy. 249, Rogers said.

The development underway at the intersection of the Grand Parkway and Hwy. 249 includes Interchange 249, an industrial development by Lovett Industrial; and The Grand at 249, a $90 million, 65-acre retail center, Community Impact previously reported.

The tank’s primary function is to provide additional water storage and maintain pressure within the city’s water system, Rogers said. It is capable of storing 1 million gallons of water.

The new elevated storage tank cost $5.67 million, and the expense is being shared between Tomball and Lovett Industrial, Rogers said.

“The logo was selected to indicate the entrance into the city of Tomball and honoring our city as being established in 1907,” Rogers said. “The paint colors were chosen based upon the colors of the city of Tomball’s logo.”
