During its Feb. 13 meeting, Magnolia City Council approved awarding the construction contract for Well No. 9.

In a nutshell

Weisinger Inc. was awarded the $2.26 million contact to build Water Well No. 9, a 1,000-gallon-per-minute well that will draw water from the Evangeline Aquifer, according to the Feb. 13 agenda packet.

According to the agenda packet, the construction will also include:

  • A chemical disinfection system
  • Associated piping
  • Associated electrical work
  • Connection to the existing water system and ground storage tank
  • Site restoration

How we got here

The city of Magnolia has been under a temporary development moratorium due to a lack of enough water capacity since December 2022, Community Impact previously reported.



The city has been working on building new water wells, as around 11,000 new connections are expected to be needed from new developments over the next five years, according to prior reporting.
