Residents are invited to share their thoughts on parks and recreation within Magnolia in an online survey launched as part of the work on the parks and recreation master plan.
In a nutshell
The online survey is open through Jan. 26, Magnolia Economic Development Director Rachel Steele said in an email. The survey includes questions such as:
- What types of outdoor recreation residents would like to see
- How important various amenities are to residents and their families
- What specific programs or events residents would like to see
How we got here
The Magnolia Economic Development 4B Corp. is working with Burditt Consultants LLC to develop a parks and recreation master plan, according to prior reporting. The master plan will include:
- An existing conditions assessment that will include an inventory of existing city-owned parks and properties
- A needs assessment that will compile information on the city’s demographics, recreation behavior and recreation trends
- Community and stakeholder engagement that will include facilitating events and an online survey to receive input
Quote of note
“We want to locally define the park components and also the recreation programs, events and activities that residents of Magnolia want to see offered locally,” Steele said. “Once the recommendations have been identified and prioritized, we will focus on funding and also creating community and strategic partnerships to help us get there. We can’t wait to see where this plan takes us.”
What else?
Steele said a public meeting on the parks and recreation master plan is anticipated to happen around late February.
