At its June 27 meeting, Montgomery County Commissioners Court voted to extend for 30 days the disaster declaration issued June 22 following heavy storms.

Montgomery County was among the portions of the Houston area affected by severe thunderstorms that left over 300,000 people without power, Community Impact previously reported.
There were a little over 230 damage assessments and surveys done on properties in the county, with about 40 homes listed as major damage, said Jason Millsaps, executive director of emergency management and homeland security for Montgomery County.
What else?
- The disaster declaration is now set to expire July 27.
- Montgomery County was also added to the state’s disaster declaration for severe weather, according to a June 23 news release from Gov. Greg Abbott.
- Debris removal is continuing, Millsaps said.
