On March 6, Blinn College hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on the 100-acre property that will be the home of the new Waller campus. During the ceremony, Blinn College officials spoke about how the new campus symbolizes the strong relationship Blinn has with the local Waller area.
How it happened
The new facility came to fruition thanks to legislation passed by Texas Sen. Lois W. Kolkhorst, which added the Harris County portion of Waller ISD to Blinn’s official service area, she said during the ceremony. Kolkhorst expressed her joy at the growth not only of Blinn College but also of the Waller area as a whole.
“It’s a physical symbol of the commitment for the future of [the] Texas area that is growing so dynamically,” Kolkhorst said. “I will tell you the march for the future of Texas is really right here, and Blinn College will be at the front of that line.”
The $68 million facility is 82,000 square feet and will be three stories tall with modern classrooms, laboratories, student study spaces and on-site administrative offices, according to a news release.

The Waller campus is the latest of multiple facilities that Blinn College has begun to build in the Waller area. As previously reported by Community Impact, Blinn is building the Waller Workforce and Technical Education Complex, a new 17,000-square-foot career and technical education facility set to be one block away from the soon-to-be-built Waller campus.
According to a news release, some courses offered at the CTE facility will include but are not limited to:
- Expanded mechatronics and advanced manufacturing courses
- Emergency medical technician basic certification
- Phlebotomy
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
- Carpentry
- Construction management.
An opening ceremony for the CTE campus will be held in June, and classes are set to begin in July,
according to a news release.
