Tomball ISD’s student lunch debt has been paid for by Whataburger after the company made a $4,100 donation Oct. 11, according to a news release from marketing firm Hahn Agency.

The gist

Whataburger’s donation to TISD was part of the burger chain’s Whataburger Feeding Student Success program, which is devoted to “supporting education and addressing food insecurity,” according to the news release.

The background

TISD leaders were presented the donation check during a ribbon-cutting for Whataburger’s new location, which opened at 20108 Cypress Rosehill Road, Tomball, in September.

In August 1950, the first Whataburger store opened in Corpus Christi, and the chain has 900 locations across the U.S., according to its website.
