The Lone Star College-Creekside Center, located at 8747 W. New Harmony Trail, Tomball, is hosting a town hall event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, LSC-Creekside officials announced in a Nov. 28 news release. This meeting is open to the public.

Jerica Nickerson, LSC-Creekside's new dean of instruction, said in the news release that that the purpose of the meeting is to listen and address community concerns.

"We want to hear directly from community members regarding their educational needs and how we can meet them," Nickerson said. "In order to meet our mission and serve the Creekside community, it is crucial that we understand the community needs."

The open forum will also include a presentation on the center's most popular courses including data analyst; English for speakers of other languages; and the electrical technology program, Cisco Networking Academy, according to the release.

The dean of instruction will be available for questions after the presentation along with student success representatives and LSC-Creekside faculty.


Guests are also welcome to tour the campus and the new Harris County Public Library Children's Library, which opened Sept. 12.

The HCPL Children's Library is open to the public and will be hosting Santa Claus for an event Dec. 7 from 6-8 p.m., the college system announced in a separate Nov. 28 news release. The event will include photo opportunities with Old Saint Nick, holiday activities, sweets and a tour of the building.

According to the release, this will be the first time Santa Claus is visiting the new library. LSC-Tomball Community Library Director Janna Hoglund said she is excited to share the holiday with the community.

"Santa's visit is the perfect opportunity for parents and children of the Creekside Park community and beyond to come and enjoy the library," she said. "It is a special holiday time, and we hope that people can come together and share in the magic."
