Decker Prairie Elementary School received a $5,000 donation from The Friendswood Development Co., according to a Nov. 18 news release. The donation was made using proceeds from the Woodtrace Wilderness Kids Triathlon.

“We are beyond excited to receive this donation for the second year,” Decker Prairie Elementary Principal Brenda Blackmon said in the release. “Last year, we spoke with our staff and collectively we decided to use the funds for leveled classroom libraries and will continue that effort this year.”

The Friendswood Development Co. hosted the triathlon, which took place Aug. 20, in the master-planned Woodtrace community in Pinehurst, according to the release.
