WanderCrust Pizza Company, a family-owned eatery, found a home in a historical 100-year-old building that is rich with memories and stories passed down through generations, owners Tina and Gary Hammons said.
The pizzeria opened in June 2024 in a historical two-story yellow house with deep roots in the community that relocated half a mile from its original spot.
What's special about it
At WanderCrust Pizza Company, visitors are transported to a different era where they can enjoy pizza in a family-friendly environment featuring tables filled with postcards with travel stories from people in the '20s through the '50s.

“It is a little bit of a step back in time, we just want this place to be part of people's memories,” Tina Hammons said.
The pizzeria’s name WanderCrust is a play on the word wanderlust, which represents a strong desire to travel. WanderCrust represents a strong desire to travel and eat pizza.

The eatery's mascot WC Oswald—also known as Ozzy—is a wooden raccoon that was carved out from a decaying tree by Texas artist Jimmy Hobbs and has become beloved by children in the community, the Hammons said.
On the menu
WanderCrust Pizza Company’s unique concept goes beyond its location. With recipes crafted by private catering chefs Liz Gurstle and Austin Scott, the pizzeria is known for its pizza flights.
Customers can sample a variety of hand-crafted pizzas from several pizza flights on the menu and can create their own flight with a combination of pizza options, including The Hawaiian, The Philly and The Mediterranean, amongst others.

The pizzeria also serves 6-12 inch specialty pizzas, pasta and appetizers such as pepperoni and vegetable pizza rolls. With over 10 years of experience in the catering industry, Gurstle and Scott also offer catering services as part of the WanderCrust Pizza Company, with menu items catered to customers’ requests.
Jovanna joined Community Impact as a reporter in July 2023.
