La Magnolia Trattoria Italiana introduced handmade Italian cream sodas more than a year ago, owner Jose Velazquez said.

A restaurant specialty, the drink is most popular with men and children, he said. However, the handmade cream sodas are not requested often.
To make the $3 drink, club soda is mixed with Torani flavored syrup and heavy cream—the same kind of cream used to make the restaurant’s Alfredo sauce.
Customers can choose from pomegranate, mango, strawberry, vanilla and peach flavorings.
The 20-ounce drink is served in a tall Pilsner glass, which capitalizes on the drink’s coloring as the cream mixes with the bubbling soda, Velazquez said. A tall, red straw tops it off, mixing the drink into a sweet treat.
“It’s a very simple drink, but it’s very elegant and very, very tasty for sure,” Velazquez said.
