COMING SOON: A second location of Melt Gourmet Grilled Cheese is under construction at 11703 Spring Cypress Road near Hwy. 249 in Tomball. The location is expected to open in mid- to late-September, owner Joe Duong said.

“We’re planning to open in 45 days around that area,” he said. "This location is about 1,500 square feet, so it’s a quick build-out.”

Duong said the menu will be identical to the eatery’s first location at 14030 Telge Road in Cypress, which he opened with his managing partner, Daniel Wagner, in early July. Melt serves a number of sandwiches made with fresh sourdough bread such as the Brie Melt and the Mo Chick Mo Waffle, which features a grilled cheese with fried chicken between two waffles.

Melt’s second location is part of a larger plan for to open several more restaurants in the northwest Houston area.

“We’re going to [open] about four to five [Melt locations] in Cypress and the Tomball areas this year and then maybe a couple dozen by next year,” Duong said.

Duong—who also owns The Shack Burger Resort—said a third location of the burger restaurant is also in the works near Spring Cypress and Kuykendahl roads near Spring. The eatery is tentatively scheduled to open by the end of the year.

“We’re just waiting on [permitting] with the county,” he said.
