A new development in Hockley is expected to bring 2,300 homes to northwest Harris County. Land Tejas, a residential development firm that has constructed communities across the Greater Houston area, has acquired 646 acres on FM 2920 between Hwy. 290 and Hwy. 249 to develop Cypress Green, the new single-family home community, according to a June 16 news release.

“We are very excited to continue growing our portfolio of outstanding master-planned communities in the Greater Houston area with the addition of Cypress Green,” said James Henrie, chief operating officer for Land Tejas, in the release.

The development will feature homesites ranging from 40- to 55-foot-wide properties. The community is located within Waller ISD boundaries.

The first homes are expected to be completed in 2022, according to the release. Henrie said in the release he also expects home sales to begin the same year. A more detailed development timeline is not yet available.

Land Tejas has also not announced builders or pricing for the development, the release stated. The firm owns 12 active communities, including Balmoral, a 750-acre development in Kingwood.
