Tomball and Magnolia residents can attend several public forums this week as well as a ceremony celebrating a new engine for the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department.

1. Magnolia City Council meets at 7:15 p.m. Monday, July 24, for a special meeting regarding the city's application and project implementation for a Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program. Additionally, the council will consider requesting the city participate in a transportation plan with Montgomery County Commissioners Court. 3. One northbound lane of Hwy. 249 between Zion Road and the Sentinel Oaks community north of Spring Creek will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Monday, July 24, to Friday, July 28, according to Houston Transtar.

4. The Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department celebrates the addition of a new engine to its fleet Wednesday, July 26. The engine, equipped with updated technology and additional water storage capacity, will be housed at Station 185, located at 11515 FM 1488, Magnolia.
