A June 27 Walmart news release said the Tomball supercenter held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for its newly remodeled store on June 28.

The Walmart remodel includes new checkout lanes and a new parking lot. The Walmart Supercenter now has 24 self-checkout registers and eight belted registers with four additional scan-and-go registers for Walmart Plus members, the store manager said.

Open since 2003, the Tomball Walmart Supercenter has eight associates who have been employed at the Tomball location since the opening and were in attendance at the reopening of the location, officials said.

During the ribbon cutting the Tomball community along with Chamber of Commerce President Bruce Hillegeist attended to celebrate the opening and recognize community partnerships with presentation by local organizations.

Performances presented included the local Silver Stars cheerleaders and color guard.

The Walmart Tomball location also unveiled a Tomball-focused mural featuring local landmarks and celebrating the city’s heritage.
