The setup
Bisson said Woodsy Homelife began in the kitchen of her home in Toronto in 2019 when her family was struggling financially. Rather than buying presents for her family that year, she said she decided to make wooden wick candles for her family and friends.
Irene said the message of her business is based on her love for people.
“I love people, and I really believe that we've all been named with purpose and there's plans for our lives,” she said.
This is where her candle’s design message stemmed from: A “You were made to shine” decal is placed on the back of each of her candles along with a biblical reference to Matthew 5:16.
Bisson said her family’s shift to Tomball from Toronto stemmed from a strong calling she followed with her husband, Brad Bisson.
“We feel like we're in the right place. We feel like we're where God wants us. We don't totally understand why, but we feel at peace with it,” Bisson said.

Bisson said her business centers around home life. As a mother who spends a lot of time at home, she said she understands the importance of maintaining a pleasant home life for her family.
Woodsy Homelife offers wooden wick candles, perfume, brass bowl candles, aprons, home life essentials and jewelry. Additionally, Bisson offers workshops and private classes.
She said her most popular products are her candles, which are poured by hand with 100% sustainable American soy wax and a signature fragrance that is phthalate free, vegan and cruelty free.
