Several projects are underway in The Woodlands area as part of the 2025 Montgomery County road bond. In addition, work is underway on a Texas Department of Transportation project on Hwy. 242 that will be completed in late 2026. These listings are not comprehensive, and timelines are subject to change.

1. Lake Woodlands Drive at Gosling Road intersection improvements

Project: The project will extend turn lanes from eastbound Lake Woodlands Drive onto northbound Gosling Road. It will also extend turn lanes from westbound Lake Woodlands Drive onto southbound Gosling Road.

Update: Engineering design was complete in early December and utility coordination was ongoing, Precinct 3 officials said.

2. Research Forest Drive at Gosling Road turn lane extension


Project: The project will extend dual left-turn lanes from westbound Research Forest Drive to southbound Gosling Road. They will also be extended from Gosling Road to Research Forest Drive in both directions.

Update: Engineering design was complete and utility coordination was ongoing as of early December, officials said.

3. Woodlands Parkway at Kuykendahl Road turn lane extension

Project: The project will add a left-turn lane and extend lane storage from northbound Kuykendahl Road to Woodlands Parkway.

Update: Engineering design was complete and new signal equipment was ordered as of early December, Precinct 3 officials said.

4. Grogan’s Mill Village Center signalization


Project: A traffic signal will be replaced at the intersection of Grogan’s Mill Road and the entrance to the Grogan’s Mill Village Center, according to Precinct 3.

Update: Engineering design was underway and the project was starting the construction planning phase as of early December, officials said.

5. Grogan’s Mill Road at North Millbend Drive intersection upgrade

Project: The project will redesign traffic signal and intersection layout, upgrade traffic signal facilities, replace pavement in the intersection as needed and restripe the intersection, Precinct 3 officials said in December.

Update: The project was in the engineering design phase in December.

6. Hwy. 242 widening


Project: TxDOT is using the existing right of way on Hwy. 242 between FM 1488 and I-45 to widen lanes and restripe the intersections.

Update: As of the most recent information released by TxDOT in November, the project being carried out by Posillico Civil Inc. was 71% complete.

8. Grogans Mill Road at Lake Woodlands Drive turn-lane extension

9. Woodlands Parkway at Branch Crossing Drive turn lane extensions

Project: The left-turn lane was extended from westbound Woodlands Parkway to southbound Branch Crossing Drive. It also extended a left-turn lane from Branch Crossing Drive onto eastbound Woodlands Parkway.


Update: The project was completed in early December.
