Construction began in February on traffic signals for the Rayford Road and Birnham Woods Drive intersection widening project. On Feb. 18, contractor Third Coast had begun drilling and pouring the foundations, according to Montgomery County Precinct 3. Traffic signals were also installed at three other sites along Rayford Road, which replace all-way stops. The project widened Rayford Road to four lanes approximately between Waterbend Cove and Birnham Woods Drive. It also included a new bridge for eastbound Rayford traffic east of Spring Trails Park Drive and widening on Birnham Woods Drive 600 feet north and south of the intersection with Rayford.
