As Tropical Storm Harvey continues to move inland, steady rain totals in the Houston area are adding up, which meteorologists forecast could lead to widespread flooding. According to the U.S. Geological Survey's website, The Woodlands area, near Gosling Road and Panther Creek, has seen more than five inches of rain so far today, with more expected as bands of rain from the storm system hit the area and move north. The Houston area has already seen several tornado warnings and confirmed tornado sightings, and rains are expected to continue overnight. Earlier today, Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyal announced Gov. Greg Abbott has added Montgomery County to a state disaster declaration. Darren Hess, Montgomery County Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said given the forecast of continued heavy rain, the risks of flooding remain high. Several roads in the county remain closed due to flooding. "We urge residents to exercise extreme caution," Hess said in a statement.
