The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain for the Houston area beginning Friday, Dec. 7, with the potential for flash flooding beginning in the afternoon hours. The NWS Houston-Galveston branch released a briefing Dec. 6 detailing the storm, which is expected to bring 2-6 inches of rain to the majority of the Greater Houston area, with some localized areas receiving 8-10 inches. The area is under a flash flood watch. Areas north of Houston, including Conroe and The Woodlands, could receive more than 4 inches of rain total, while areas south of Houston are likely to see more than 3 inches. According to the briefing, some road flooding is expected.
