The Howard Hughes Corp. announced Feb. 21 that a new outdoor community gathering space will come to The Woodlands Waterway Square. According to a news release from Howard Hughes, the company will transform 2.3 acres into green space. The outdoor space is set to be located north of The Westin at The Woodlands, which is located at 2 Waterway Square Place. The space is adjacent to the south side of Waterway Square garage.

According to the release, the landscaping is designed to encourage walkability through Waterway Square. The landscaping, which begins Feb. 21, will include Crepe myrtles and zoysia grass. In addition, there are plans to include movable furniture and a future mural.

“This new flexible green space creates another outdoor amenity for residents, employees and visitors to enjoy at Waterway Square and serves as an additional vantage point from which to enjoy outdoor concerts and social gatherings,” said Jim Carman, president of the Houston region for The Howard Hughes Corp., in the release.
