Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital celebrated the opening of its $250 million Healing Tower expansion in the first quarter of 2022, bringing expanded services, additional robotics and over 100 additional rooms for patients.

The expansion added 251,000 square feet to the hospital’s campus and includes six floors; nine operating rooms, bringing the total up to 24; 106 patient rooms; and robotic technology to aid procedures for surgeries and orthopedic care.

“We have always master-planned this hospital to be a 400-bed hospital,” said Debra Sukin, regional senior vice president of Houston Methodist and CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital at an April 13 tour of the tower. “Here we are, not even at our fifth birthday, and we have 300 beds, and we are seeing that master-planning come to life.”

Sukin said construction on the tower has been ongoing for around two and a half years throughout the coronavirus pandemic, with no notable delays caused by the pandemic.

Sukin added the hospital has been recognized as a robotics center of excellence in part from the expansion.

Along with the patient rooms, the Healing Tower provides an outpatient lactation area and 10 additional beds in the Level III Neonatal ICU, bringing the total to 24 beds for the campus.

The Healing Tower was officially completed in January. It is anticipated to add 350 jobs once it is fully staffed.
