Reyer has served as city administrator for the past eight years, leading efforts that strengthened city operations, built partnerships with community stakeholders and guided Shenandoah through periods of growth, according to an Oct. 8 news release.
She previously held several positions within the city, including city secretary, public information officer and assistant director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, according to the release.
“Serving as city administrator has been the honor of my career,” Reyer said in the release. “I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and of the culture of teamwork and innovation that has taken root at City Hall.”
Mayor John Escoto praised Reyer’s leadership, her professionalism and commitment to residents.
“Kathie’s leadership has been invaluable to Shenandoah,” Mayor John Escoto said in the release. “She has steered our city with vision, professionalism and grace, always putting the needs of our residents first. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and service.”
What’s next
During the same Oct. 8 meeting, the City Council appointed Public Works Director Joseph Peart as interim city administrator. Steps to fill the role permanently were not outlined during the meeting.
