During its July 15 meeting, Montgomery County commissioners changed the rental fee schedule for Precinct 3 facilities. Commissioner Ritch Wheeler said existing contracts will remain honored through the year.

“If you're a nonprofit ... [you] will have space available that we will not charge for,” Wheeler said. “If you have a contract to use a particular room as a nonprofit, we will still honor that contract, and you will still get to use that space.”

The Kevin Brady Community Center, the Oklahoma Community Center and the Nature Center Community Room will operate under a new fee schedule following unanimous approval by commissioners.

“We've tried to make these rental rates extremely affordable and so that our community members can utilize the center,” Wheeler said.

Rentals are only available to Montgomery County residents, according to the agenda item.

“This is an initial rate schedule,” Wheeler said. “I will fully admit that we're kind of treading into new waters here.”

Commissioners also accepted and approved appraisals with The Woodlands developer Howard Hughes Corporation for the Grogan’s Mill Village Center.

The acceptance of the appraisals allows the land exchange to take place later this month, County Attorney B.D. Griffin said.

Griffin said the appraised amount includes:
  • $13.2 million for the South County Community Center
  • $15.4 million for the South County Regional Library
  • $30.8 million for the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center
