The details
According to a news release from the Montgomery County Memorial Library System, the existing South Montgomery County Library will close to residents starting July 26. The closure will be to move library materials from the old facility to the new Kevin Brady Library located at 2250 Buckthorne Place in The Woodlands.
Residents will still be able to drop off library returns through the book drop area until July 28, at which point any library returns can be submitted through any other MCMLS library.
The release also stated that any library holds starting July 25 will be available for pickup at the George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library in The Woodlands.
Some context
The South Montgomery County Library is being relocated to the redeveloped Grogan's Mill Village Center and renamed the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center as part of a land swap agreement with Montgomery County Precinct 3 and Howard Hughes Corporation.
As previously reported by Community Impact, the new library will have:
- A 5,000-square-foot ballroom
- 11 rentable study rooms
- A full-service conference room
- A 100-person capacity theater-style classroom shared between the library and the community center
- A rentable podcast room
- A film-producing room
