On April 8, Montgomery County commissioners will be requesting just over $14.7 million in federal grant funds from U.S. Reps. Dan Crenshaw, R-Kingwood and Morgan Luttrell, R-Magnolia as well as considering a new interlocal agreement with Waller County for housing inmates.

County commissioners will discuss an interlocal agreement with Waller County to house inmates from the Montgomery County Jail to address overcrowding and emergency housing needs for inmates. Under the agreement, Montgomery County would pay Waller County $75 per inmate for each day the inmate is housed in Waller County facilities.

Commissioners will also consider $14.7 million in requests for federal grant funds through Crenshaw and Luttrell for public improvement projects including:
  • An environmental enhancement study for San Jacinto River, West Fork
  • Willis-Waukegan Road mobility improvements
  • I-69 frontage road drainage improvements
