A redesign of the LifeTime Fitness complex that is currently under construction at 9000 and 9002 Six Pines Drive, Shenandoah, was presented to Shenandoah City Council during a July 28 meeting.

Aaron Koehler, LifeTime Fitness vice president of real estate and development, said the redesign will see the removal of the complex's fourth-level tennis program that was going to be located on top of the development's parking garage and the removal of a skybridge that was going to link the parking garage and the fitness club.

"The last 16 months have not been great for our industry," Kohler said. "For us, we are emerging from COVID[-19] on our feet. Today ... we have to be a bit more conscious on where we deploy our capital."

Kohler said the redesign will help eliminate some of the cost of the project as a whole.

Due to issues from the pandemic, Kohler added the project has been delayed, but he anticipates work will begin again in November once the parking garage is completed.

"That is a two-month later start than we would have liked to do," Kohler said. "It still has us finishing construction in the mid- to late summer of 2023."

No action was taken following the presentation.
