Here are five things to do in The Woodlands this weekend, Nov. 19-21. From shopping at local markets, attending a gala and giving donations, there is something for everyone. Attendees should check with each venue regarding safety policies and cancellations.

Nov. 19-20: Give donations

Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization, is accepting donations of school supplies, hygiene products and toys. The following locations around The Woodlands are accepting donations from Nov. 15-20. Visit www.samirtanspurse.org or call 828-262-1980 for information on how to pack a shoebox.

Nov. 19-21: Shop for the holidays

The Junior League of The Woodlands is holding its 17th annual holiday market. The shopping event features a variety of items and vendors offering items from flower arrangements to personalized gifts to holiday ornaments. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. (Fri.-Sat.), 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (Sun.). $15. Nov.19-21: Visit The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center on opening weekend


The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center opened for the holiday season Nov. 19. The 21,000-square-foot ice rink at Town Center features ice skating, tables for parties and concessions. Nov. 20: View the annual Lighting of the Doves

The Lighting of the Doves Festival is the ceremonial illumination of the giant doves throughout The Woodlands. The festival is held at Town Green Park and will include live music, snow play areas, vendor booths, children’s activities, strolling entertainment and a special appearance by Santa Claus. The festival includes a fireworks display. 3-9 p.m. Free. Town Green Park, 2099 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. 281-210-3800. www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov

Nov. 20: Attend a gala and art auction

The Woodlands Methodist Church is hosting the Masterpiece Gala and Auction at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. Attendees can expect a dinner and live and silent auctions featuring a variety of art, collectibles and decor. The gala and auction will benefit the global and local missions of The Woodlands Methodist Church. 6 p.m. $90. The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center, 2301 N. Memorial Hermann Medical Group signed a 20,000-square-foot, build-to-suit lease for a Memorial Hermann Primary Care Clinic to be developed in Shenandoah, according to a news release by Howard Hughes Corporation. In addition, the release stated that construction is beginning on the new Creekside Park Medical Plaza within Creekside Park Village Center.
