Frank Robinson and Ernest Sumrall, who won seats on Shenandoah City Council on May 2 according to unofficial results, shared comments with Community Impact on the election.
"I want to thank every citizen who voted today and during early voting," said Robinson, who won the Position 5 seat, on May 2. "Your voice was heard. It is a great honor to be re-elected to the Shenandoah City Council. I look forward to continuing my public service for all of Shenandoah."
Sumrall also shared several remarks via email.
"Now that the election is behind us, my hope is that we can begin to let the division caused by differences diminish," said Sumrall, who won the Position 1 seat. "We may not all agree on every issue, but we are still neighbors first. Shenandoah is strongest when we listen to one another, treat each other with respect, and work together for the good of the whole community. I want to thank everyone who voted, everyone who encouraged me and everyone who cared enough to participate in the process. I also want to thank those who supported other candidates. Your voices matter too, and I look forward to serving all residents with fairness, humility and a sincere commitment to our city."

Unofficial results from the May 2 election show two incumbents retaining their seats in Shenandoah and a newcomer taking the City Council Position 1 seat.
According to the Montgomery County Elections website, incumbent John G. Escoto won the race for mayor with 368 votes, or 73.16% of votes cast, and challenger Ron Raymaker received 135 votes, or 26.84% of votes cast. All results are unofficial until canvassed.
In an email statement, Escoto thanked the residents who participated in the election and made several remarks on the election.
"I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to my opponent for his many years of dedicated service to the City of Shenandoah as a council member. His commitment and contributions have helped shape the city we are proud to call home," Escoto said. "Now, it is time for us to come together. Elections may determine leadership, but our shared goal remains the same—to move Shenandoah forward. Let’s unite in purpose and continue working to ensure our city prospers and remains the biggest and best small town in Texas."
In the race for City Council Position 1, Ernest N. Sumrall won with 306 votes, or 61.69% of the vote, and Gary Henson received 190 votes, or 38.31% of the vote.
For City Council Position 5, incumbent Frank Robinson received 337 votes, or 67.4% of the vote, and David Teague received 163 votes, or 32.6% of the vote.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. for races in The Woodlands area May 2, including three contested elections in the city of Shenandoah.
As of early voting results, incumbent John G. Escoto took the lead in the mayoral race, receiving 175 votes, or 75.11% of the vote, and challenger Ron Raymaker received 58 votes, or 24.89% of the vote.
Raymaker did not seek re-election for Position 1, which saw Gary Henson and Ernest N. Sumrall vying for the seat. As of early voting results, Henson received 86 votes, or 38.22% of the vote, and Sumrall received 139 votes, or 61.78% of the vote.
In the race for
Position 5, incumbent Frank Robinson received 157 votes, or 68.26% of the vote, and challenger David Teague received 73 votes, or 31.74% of the vote.
