Q&A: Get to know the Republican candidates running for Montgomery County justice of the peace, Precinct 3, ahead of the March primaries

Why are you running for office?

Because I love my job. To put my 20 years of being a small business owner and subject matter expertise to efficiently manage the court. To continue the mission to serve the people of Montgomery County with professional and efficient administration of justice with integrity, fairness, and respect.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

I started the process of JP3 court being recognized by Texas Judicial Council as Judicial Center of Excellence. Centered around four performance areas: governance; access & fairness; data-driven caseflow management; court operations; & five compliance areas: judicial reporting, court security, court collection, indigent defense, guardianship fraud & abuse prevention.

What are the biggest challenges facing Precinct 3?

Increased case filings requiring a need for more clerks and implementing legislative laws requiring more training. We had a 4,500 caseload increase in 2025 for a total of just over 34,000 cases. We have 17 clerks who are asked to manage roughly 2,000 cases a year, up from 1,500 cases in 2023.

How will you manage caseloads in a county expected to see more population growth?

The good news: in my first year we closed approximately 2,900 more cases than in 2024 and we started 2025 with five vacant clerk positions. We are now fully staffed with fantastic clerks who work very hard, who go above and beyond, to stay ahead of the new demand.

How will you collaborate with law enforcement and government to increase safety?

Our court works closely with Animal Control, the district attorney, county attorney, Texas Department of Public Safety, constable and sheriff’s offices to effectively balance the rights of the accused while ensuring due process and appropriate justice is done with fairness, integrity, and respect.

Why are you running for office?

I have considered the Justice of the Peace role for years, and now is the right time to run. JP courts should reflect community values and serve with fairness, efficiency and respect for the law. I want everyday citizens to leave the courtroom feeling heard and treated with dignity.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Implement meaningful programs for juveniles—helping redirect them before small mistakes turn into lifelong consequences. Clear the backlog of cases and make the court operate more efficiently. Restore accessibility and morale by offering more flexible dockets for working families, improving communication, and refocusing the court on the people it serves.

What are the biggest challenges facing Precinct 3?

Precinct 3 faces rapid population growth, increasing civil, criminal, and traffic caseloads. The county added a second courtroom to meet these demands. As Justice of the Peace, I will remain present and engaged to ensure efficient justice and effective service for Montgomery County residents.
