With all 111 voting precincts reporting in Montgomery County, the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District will see newcomer John Yoars take the director Place 7 seat and incumbent Kenneth Earnest retain his seat in director Place 3, according to unofficial Montgomery County election results.
Yoars won over incumbent Larry Rogers with 51.54% of votes, or 14,767 votes, to Rogers' 13,886 votes.
"I'm very pleased to be joining that board and I'm very thankful to Bruce Cunningham who created a strategy for us to win that seat," Yoars said.
For Place 3, Earnest keeps his seat, taking 62.4% of votes, or 25,315 votes, to challenger James Ridgway's 15,255 votes.
Earnest did not immediately return a request for comment.

Incumbent Kenneth Earnest maintains his lead to be re-elected to Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District director Place 3 with 73 of 111 voting precincts reporting in Montgomery County. However, newcomer John Yoars has maintained a slight lead over incumbent Larry Rogers in the Place 7 race, with 12,168 votes to Rogers' 11,445, according to unofficial Montgomery County election results.
Earnest has received 19,961 votes to opponent James Ridgway's 12,214 votes, unofficial results show, with nearly two-thirds of voting precincts reporting as of publication.

With early voting results in from Montgomery County for the Nov. 8 election, incumbent Kenneth Earnest takes an early lead in the race for Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District director Place 3, while candidate John Yoars has a slight lead in the race for Place 7, according to early-voting results from Montgomery County.
Yoars is challenging incumbent Larry Rogers in the Place 7 race, which represents voters of The Woodlands Township. The Position 3 seat represents voters of Montgomery County Precinct 3, which also spans a portion of The Woodlands, and includes Earnest and challenger James Ridgway.
Candidates discussed subsidence and the LSGCD in Q&As with Community Impact earlier this fall. The Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District was created by Texas to regulate the groundwater resources of Montgomery County, and it has the authority to develop, promote and implement water conservation, augmentation and management strategies in the region.
Early voting results from Montgomery County show Earnest received 17,377 votes, or 61.99% of votes, to Ridgway's 10,655 early votes. For Place 7, Yoars received 10,639 votes, or 51.43%, and Rogers received 10,047 early votes, or 48.57%.
