"A strong pool of highly-qualified candidates, representing some of the best talent from across Texas and the nation, have submitted application materials," district officials said in a news release.
How we got here
Previously, at its June 17 meeting, the board of trustees approved its Superintendent Search Plan, which included community engagement and input conducted through June, July and August with the search firm Texans for Excellence in Education.
TEE President John Petree on July 9 provided a preliminary candidate profile developed by the CISD board of trustees that outlined some qualifications and characteristics the board will consider while choosing a candidate, including:
- Has a parent-first approach
- Is responsive to constituents
- Respects elected governance
- Focuses on teacher quality
- Is a strict accountability champion
- Is a local control advocate
A survey remains open through July 28 and all stakeholders are encouraged to participate by submitting feedback at https://tiny.conroeisd.net/K7ETj.
The board is tentatively scheduled to meet Aug. 5 during a special board meeting to review applicant materials and identify candidates for first-round interviews.
